SUPERNATURE - Cerrone - Alto Sax RMX - Free score

Cerrone's "Supernature" is a disco classic released in 1977 as the title track of his album "Supernature" (Cerrone III). It became a major hit, along with other tracks "Give Me Love" and "Love Is Here", reaching number one on the US disco/dance charts in early 1978.

The song is interesting for a couple of reasons. First, it has a dark and atmospheric sound, quite different from the usual upbeat and celebratory disco sound. This is achieved through the use of synthesizers, particularly a distinctive keyboard riff.

Second, the lyrics, though not credited, are believed to be by the young Lene Lovich. They deal with a surprisingly serious topic for disco, with an environmental message about the potential consequences of humanity's reliance on artificial chemicals. The lyrics describe a future where creatures harmed by these chemicals rise up to take revenge.

Despite its dark themes, "Supernature" remains a dance floor staple and a great example of Cerrone's innovative use of electronic music in the disco era.

The song, along with the entire "Supernature" album, was not actually followed up by another album in the traditional sense.

Cerrone released a single called "Simply" years later, but the "Supernature" album is considered a standalone work by many. This adds to the unique mystique of the record and "Supernature" itself. It burst onto the scene, became a disco phenomenon, then Cerrone seemingly moved on to other projects.
