The Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris is one of the most famous Gothic cathedrals in the world, located on the Île de la Cité in the heart of Paris. Its construction began in 1163 under the direction of Archbishop Maurice de Sully and was completed in 1345. The cathedral became a symbol of Paris and an important landmark of French culture and architecture.

Over the centuries, the cathedral witnessed numerous significant events. It was the site of Napoleon Bonaparte’s coronation in 1804 and hosted many historical ceremonies. In the 19th century, the cathedral fell into disrepair, but it was restored thanks to the efforts of writer Victor Hugo, whose novel *The Hunchback of Notre-Dame* (1831) drew attention to its deteriorating condition. The restoration was completed in 1864.

In 2019, the cathedral suffered significant damage from a fire that destroyed the roof and spire. Despite the damage, the cathedral was quickly secured, and restoration efforts began.

Today, Notre-Dame is not only an important religious center but also one of Paris's major tourist attractions, drawing millions of visitors from around the world.
