King Diamond - Arrival (Bass Cover)

It's officially spooky season, (yes, mid-September-ish counts) so it was time for me to tackle some music by the official band of the season, King Diamond. It's my first time ever really posting a King Diamond/Mercyful Fate song, and this one is one that always left an impression on me, so it was the pick. I think the KD records after this one really miss the creative bass playing of Timi Hansen (even if Conspiracy is one of my favorites, right at the level of the first two). It's a shame he never rejoined the band, and in the case of Mercyful Fate, he did, but passed before the reunion took off. As he is in my top 10 favorite metal bassists that influenced me, I was very sad that he was gone. Very few cover his stuff correctly, with the proper creative lines and metronomic precision on 16th note sections (to me, it is incredible how he managed to do all of that fingerstyle, by far one of the most precise fingerpicking players in metal).
I tried to be as faithful to the original as possible, I added some chords in the chorus (i.e., 1:39 here and so on), since I thought they fit. Otherwise, everything is mostly how he played it, at least to what my ears can hear. The little tritone thing at 3:34 is something I haven't seen any other cover do properly, whether its the timing or the notes. It's so fun to really pay attention to these things in Timi's playing.
