Conor McGregor's current online persona a "sad" cry for attention, says Belal Muhammad

Conor McGregor's downward spiral has drawn the attention of reigning UFC welterweight champion Belal Muhammad. In a recent interview with MMAFighting's Damon Martin, 'Remember the Name' lambasted the Irishman over his over-the-top, trash-talking persona.
However, according to Muhammad, McGregor's boastful, vitriolic manner is merely a desperate attempt at staying revelant, as 'The Notorious' has not won a fight since his 2020 first-round TKO of Donald 'Cowboy' Cerrone. Since he isn't actively fighting, Muhammad believes McGregor's only recourse is trash talk.
"It's kind of, like, sad, right? Because you have all the money in the world, and you act like you're happy. It's like the fake Instagram posts from people, right? Where they show the good stuff in their life, but deep down inside they're crying. I think that's what it is from him. He sees all these getting attention, and it's always when there's a big fight announced or a big fight happens."
"When he puts out a tweet, and he says his stupid little spiel of 'This guy's amazing' or 'I'll knock out this guy. I have two left hands for this, blah, blah, blah.' And then the world bites on it and they give him all the attention and then he thinks he's back in the game, but this game isn't like that, right? You can't win fights with words."
McGregor's decline has drawn significant attention from the MMA world, especially given his poor 1-3 run of form in his last four fights and general absence from competition. Whether he ever returns has become a topic of interest, but it is likely that his fighting days are over.
Despite being more strongly linked to a bout with Michael Chandler, who is now scheduled to rematch Charles Oliveira at UFC 309, Conor McGregor expressed interest in facing Belal Muhammad for the welterweight strap. He denigrated his striking skills, drawing Muhammad's attention on X/Twitter.
