A Lasting Impact - Ys VIII Lacrimosa of Dana Retrospective

Ys 8 is considered the pinnacle of the series by many people. Whenever I see or hear people talking about the series as a whole, Ys 8 always gets brought up. So is it the best in the series, best in the genre, is it a good starting point to jump into the series? There are a lot of questions to be answered to see if Ys VIII Lacrimosa of Dana is worth your time.
