(01) sonic plains - orbital express
Описание
this has been track 01, "sonic plains," on the self-titled album by orbital express. *this album is still available for purchase as a digital download on bandcamp!!!1!!! [https://orbitalexpress.bandcamp.com/album/orbital-express] it is only $2.00 (without tax) CAD, so please if you are able to purchase consider doing so!! their 2017 release "light years from home" is available for purchase as well for $10.00 without tax. i'm not too sure who exactly will receive the money from these purchases, as orbital express has disbanded (afaik), but judging by an article i will link later, some of the members are still active in the music sphere, so Someone here will get the funds. if you like what you hear, please consider supporting them :-]*
this album is really special to me. i truly believe the universe Meant for me to find this album. it's not too often i wonder why someone ends up donating things to secondhand shops (the answers are usually very simple), but when i saw how incredible the artwork on the front and back inserts was for this album, i Did question that, and it made me feel a little sad.
orbital express was a stoner rock band from a city all too familiar to me. this fact definitely adds to why this album is considered a gem in my collection. i have this disease where my tastes operate on a cyclical schedule, and at the time the arrow was pointing towards stoner rock & metal, sludge, and doom (i listen to a lot of church of misery, fireball ministry, & scissorfight), so it felt like a divine intervention when i popped this into my cars cd player and the opening riff tore through my speakers.
there is a great article [https://leaderpost.com/entertainment/local-arts/the-timing-is-right-for-the-return-of-orbital-express] by the leaderpost where ennis talks about when orbital express broke up for the first time and how he feels about this specific album. he touched on something that resonated with me, but was something that i didn't think of when i dove head first into running this channel, and that's how these albums might be considered by the people who produced them Nowadays. i do try to reach out to the bands or the members i'm able to find to let my intentions with their art be known and to open a place where they can request to have my videos taken down in case they Really do not want their music shared, but i never really considered the fact before now that... yeah, these strangers probably havent thought about these albums in a Hot Minute, and they probably won't think too kindly of some other stranger (starry-eyed, inexperienced, and admittedly, sort of unprofessional) approaching them saying 'hey, i know u might have forgotten about this stuff u made some 15+ odd years ago, and probably Hate it now that youve grown, but im uploading it all to my bum ass youtube channel sooooo.. if u want it taken down let me know ♡.'
i still think archiving this media is important. these are phenomenal works of art and it would be a damn shame to let them fade away for good, but i think these feelings are important to keep in mind for the future.
are you still with me? comment 'jeez, stop being so sentimental and link some more places where this band can be found already.' Aye Aye Captain! orbital express has an instagram account @orbitalexpressband and a facebook page [https://www.facebook.com/orbitalexpress/], but neither of these have been active since 2018. i'd still give the instagram a scroll if i were you though, there's some sick flyer art and snippets of live shows to be found there. their 2017 album "light years from home" can be found on spotify [https://open.spotify.com/album/2a1qf2Jhisn8VB7NIGdfg5?si=lchGEY7TSQWKwtpx9pyO6A] if you want to hear more, but as stated at the top, both of these albums are available for purchase [https://orbitalexpress.bandcamp.com/]. they are dirt cheap, so if you can spare a toonie and maybe a quarter or two for this debut album, please consider doing so.
